Bar Stool Buying Guide

Are you considering buying a bar stool for your home?  Before you purchase, check out these helpful hints.

Bar Height Stools

Pay  close attention to the height of the stool you are purchasing, and know the height of your own bar before purchase a stool.  Generally, stools and tables that are considered "bar height" have seats that are approximately 30" high, and a table top that is 40-42" high. Stools of this height are generally referred to as barstool or bar height stools.

Counter Height Stools

Another popular stool height are counter height stools, which generally have seats that are 24” to 25” high and a table top that is 36” – 38”, often called counter stools or counter height stools.

Wood vs. Metal Stools

You will find that bar and counter height stools are available in both wood and metal with different style and finish options. A metal stool is often considered to look more contemporary, while wood stools can look more traditional. Heat, humidity, and direct exposure to sunlight can damage wood.

Leather vs. Upholstered Seating

Leather has several advantages over fabric seating, but perhaps most important is that it’s more durable than fabric upholstery.  If leather is scratched or torn, it can be usually be easily repaired with a leather touch-up and repair kit. Keep in mind that prolonged exposure to the sun may cause your leather to fade.  Be sure to review a leather care guide before using chemicals or cleaners on your bar stool.

Keeping your upholstered seating looking new is as simple as making sure you clean up any spills as soon as they happen.  If you use chemicals and cleaners on it, test the upholstery  by applying the cleaner in an unnoticeable spot and ensure that no discoloring happens when the cleaner is applied.

Other Items to Consider When Buying Bar Stools

·       Make sure that your stools match the style of the room they will be placed in.

·       Make sure you have enough room for the stools you purchase, allowing about 28” between each stool.

·       If you are going to use your stools daily, make sure that you pick  a durable surface like wood or leather so that it withstands the wear.

·       Make sure that you’re getting the lowest price available on your bar stool. We guarantee the lowest price, and combined with the area’s best selection, you’ll be sure the stool your purchase is the best stool for your home!
